Members have received emails like the one reported here:

I just checked my e-mail this morning and there was a message from SWI Forums saying that SWI had an anti virus scanner for me to download and use, when I downloaded it all kinds of porn related issues showed up as infections and a prompt to download protection from them,

If you receive such an email, it is not from us. Do not click any link in such an email. You will never receive email from SWI other than the notifications you have requested, and letters sent through your email button.

Please report any such email to me with the full header information. SWI has no control over people spoofing the sender address, but full header info showing the mail servers involved might enable us to take steps via the abuse department of the host.

There have also been incidents of people receiving PMs with a link for a download. (The known perpetrator, member named 'Support', has been banned.) Never click a link in a PM from someone you don't know. And please inform me or another admin right away if you receive such a spam PM.
