PC has been quite normal since my last format about a year ago.. now my AVG free program is trying to update thing it's never stated before.

"
Webshield (google says this is a norton function)
Webshield settings ---- new to me
New component (it says nothing else, just new component)
Set up component (obviously to the above but new to me)
Kernel components (I've never seen AVG ever update kernel for me)"
Language files (don't recall that not positive though)

my question is, is it possible that my anti virus could've been compromised? these are all very new things to me and i've been using AVG free for the past 4 years (roughly).

I've never seen AVG update anything as important as my kernel. It's all just too very different.

has anyone experienced this nugget of joy lately?

normal? I've denied the updates but accepted the last webshield update, which was small...but i still googled it to be sure...I thought AVG got bought out by symantec, and i cried myself to sleep.

but now i'm wondering, has AVG changed or just MY avg?

What version of AVG are you using? If it's the older Vs 7.5 it may well be trying to update to Vs 8.
