The missing RAM is probably used by your Video Card.

When was the last time your hard disk was defrag?

How much free space do you have on the hard disk?

Check your virtual memory. Is the computer managing it?

Your defrag. - 1.2months back no arm in doeing it again. If not required it will tell you.

Free hard disk space 2.About 105GB
Please run this tool it will give me move information.

Download random's system information tool (RSIT) by random/random from >>here<< and save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on RSIT.exe to launch program.
  • Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
  • Your firewall may alert you that RSIT is requesting Internet access. Please allow it.
  • Once it has finished, two logs will open: log.txt<-- this will be maximized and info.txt<-- this will be minimized.

These reports are long, please post the contents of both logs (in separate post) in your next reply.

Virtual memory. 3.How to check it?
In Explorer help search for Virtual memory.
Look at the setting and reported settings.
What can you tell me. Post the results.

Nothing suspicious found on your log.

Check your virtual memory. Is the computer managing it?

Open Windows Search and look for Virtual Memory.

Follow the instructions to open the applet.

What are your current settings?

Go back to the panel where you got the information.

Is the Max recommending setting at Max.Size :4092MB

If not change it to the recommending size.

I just found this article

Shutdown is very slow - Windows XP
http://windowsxp.mvp...lowshutdown.htm

Let me know if you need help in trying the suggested fixes.

Try to repair I.E.

Method 1: Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.x Repair for Windows XP

From the Start menu, select Run.
In the Open field, type sfc /scannow (Note: There is a space between sfc and /scannow)
Select the OK button.
Follow the prompts throughout the System File Checker process.
Reboot the computer when System File Checker completes.

Method 2: Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.x Repair for Windows XP

From the Start menu, select Search, select All Files and Folders.
Select More Advanced Options and place a checkmark beside Search Hidden Files and Folders option.
Ensure that Search System Folders and Search Subfolders are also checked.
In the All or Part of the File Name box, type ie.inf
In the Look In drop-down menu, select C: or the letter of the hard drive that contains the Windows folder.
Click the Search button.
In the search results pane, find the ie.inf file located in Windows\Inf folder.
Right click the ie.inf file and click Install on the context menu.
Reboot the computer when the file copy process is complete.
===

If all fails install Internet Explorer 7. Version 8 is out but I think you should first try Version 7.

It all depends on the amount of RAM you presently have.

Do the windows applet give you what the settings are and what it's recommended?

I have a minimum of 500 and a max of 3055 also on a Vista.

Any luck with the performance link I gave you?

Update your Windows XP to Service Pack 3
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322389

Visit Link to ADOBE
and download the latest version of Acrobat Reader.
Having the latest updates ensures there are no security vulnerabilities in your system.

Adobe has confirmed a critical vulnerability in Adobe Reader and Acrobat 9.2 and earlier versions
http://www.adobe.com.../apsa09-07.html
Adobe plans to make available an update to Adobe Reader and Acrobat by January 12, 2010 to resolve the issue.

Customers who are not able to utilize the JavaScript Blacklist functionality can mitigate the issue by disabling JavaScript in Adobe Reader and Acrobat using the instructions below:
1. Launch Acrobat or Adobe Reader.
2. Select Edit>Preferences
3. Select the JavaScript Category
4. Uncheck the 'Enable Acrobat JavaScript' option
5. Click OK
