Could anyone recommend a free encryption program for files and folders that preferably works from the context menu. Thanks.

Windows 7 offers a full disk encryption feature, BitLocker, out of the box but unfortunately it's only available on Ultimate or Enterprise edition.

TrueCrypt is recommended.

Thanks cnm that's much more than I need. I used to use File2File; worked from the context menu and at the individual file level. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work with Windows 7.

AxCrypt might be what you are looking for. I don't use encryption and have no experience with it, but it has good reviews.

Yep, I've been using AxCrypt for some time now (also on Windows7), no problems with it, works well... Here is a good tutorial on its use on Tech Support Forum: How To Encrypt Individual Files and Folders Using AxCrypt
