I received this email:

Intimation for Removal of Libel Content from Website

Latika Chawla <latika@xportsoft.com>
9:15 PM (1 hour ago)

Hello there,
This is in reference to the reviews/comments posted against our software PC Optimizer Pro on the under mentioned link of your website: http://www.spywareinfoforum.com

http://www.spywarein...mizer-pro-guard

We would hereby like to inform you that PC Optimizer Pro is a seven-year-old, established registry cleaning application that has been successfully tested, many a times, for safety and authenticity by almost all leading antivirus programs, malware detectors, spyware applications, etc.
You can verify the results here:
http://www.virustotal.com

We are certified software partners with Microsoft, Intel and IBM – and our product conforms to all quality standards set for digital products under the US Cyber Laws.
Posting shill reviews is a criminal offense under the Libel Defamation section of the US Cyber Laws. Also, making such litigations is a violation of the Google Algorithms for Opinion Spamming.
You are advised to consider this email as intimation for removing all such remarks/reviews from your website that allege PC Optimizer of being a virus/spam/malware or any such type of harmful program.
In this case, any negligence or undue delay on your part will leave with us no option other than filing a legal complaint against your company/website.
We expect a quick issue resolution.
Thanks & Regards,
Manager

Registry Cleaners are not labelled as "malware" but as Possible Unwanted Program. I would not recommend using Registry Cleaners since the performance boost seems to be negligible. I do not see a good reason why anyone would want to risk a Registry corruption for no good reason.

I was about to post about the risk vs. benefit of registry editors, but then I saw this topic filled with people that had installed a program and had PC Optimizer Pro installed as an unwanted program along with their intended software:
http://www.bleepingc...opic431108.html

From the number of posts Google finds simply searching on the name of the program itself asking how to remove the program after it was installed along with something else, sounds like "potentially unwanted" was being generous.

Indeed. At the time I was doing this topic there were a couple of other logs at other forums I noticed that had issues with this program too.

This is just one of those many irritating programs that annoy the hell out of users unfortunately.

I love this line under the Pros:

"Pros? You mean there is actually something good about this garbage software?" :p

Yes that made me chuckle too, as did 'Pros - Total piece of C_ _ _'

This is a curious statement:

Also, making such litigations is a violation of the Google Algorithms for Opinion Spamming.

and shows a fundamental misunderstanding of what opinion spamming is, as opposed to people's right to free comment on the effectiveness of a program.
Google 'PCOptimizerPro' and you get seven hits on the first page for 'Remove PCOptimizerPro'. Compare that to Googling a reputable program like MBAM. Add the word 'Remove' and try the comparison and it gets even more significant.

I'm not even sure how you violate an algorithm. Do you get it drunk first?
