I have Windows 8.1 OS system.

Recently, I have selected Windows 8.1 updates to install.  On the face of it these updates were installed.

However, when I re-start the laptop a message appears that the system is waiting to configure the updates. Then a screen msg  says "configuring updates 1%, 2% ......up to usually 11%, when the system re-starts itself.

Then the system tries again to configure the updates and the screen msg says " updates failed" and the system re-starts again. Usually this re-start happens three times then I can sign into my laptop.

I have enquired online about this matter but nothing seems to sort it.

I don't know when this malfunction started. Previously when I was closing down in the settings I had the option to "update and close down" or "update and restart"

It may be worthwhile to post logs in Malware Removal to make sure that you don't have something interfering with the updates...
