I was interupted for a long time (my mom called long distance) while I was disabling my system restore to get rid of some trojans... when I went back I kinda go... confused... I forgot where I was and what I was doing...

Now here's the question... Under Troubleshooting, do I WANT a check in the disable system Restore or NO check?

Thanks guys

... I'm afraid I may have screwed it up altogether...

It says I STILL have the same trojans in my _RESTORE files... after I did the restart.

Would someone be so kind as to help a newb out with this?

Here's what I did... ran AVG... says I have 12 trojans in my _RESTORE files.

I R clicked on My Computer then Properties. Went to Troubleshooting and Disabled system restore (This is where my mom called so I may have missed a step) ... restarted. Ran AVG again and I still have the same stuff.

I DO NOT have a check in the DISABLE system restore at this moment...

Thanks guys

Disable System Restore.
Reboot - that will remove all your existing restore points.
Then after the reboot, be sure to enable System Restore again and make a new clean restore point.

My first question is did you remove the trojans? Second do you notice any other abnormal things happening to your pc such as your browser being reset to another page or pop up ads? I would go ahead and wait to turn on your system restore until it has been checked out.

You can always download hijackthis and post your log in the Malware removal section to have it checked out. After you downloaded Hijackthis:(link to download in my signature)

Click My Computer, then C:\
In the menu bar, File->New->Folder.
That will create a folder named New Folder, which you can rename to "HJT" or "HijackThis". Now you have C:\HJT\ folder. Put your HijackThis.exe there, and double click to run it. This will give you a permanent spot to store backups, and also allievate clutter.

Run a scan of Hijackthis and post the log in Malware Removal. Make sure ALL windows and browsers are closed when running Hijackthis.
