Guys, my evaluation period for other branded av's have expired so i'm thinking of switching to a free av. i need your help on which is better avast! or avg anti-virus? cos i don't have any experience on this two apps. and also if their professional counterparts are better than their home/free counterparts.

Have a look HERE as well as HERE. :)

Now as for the difference between the paid and free versions, well, the paid versions have more features and technical support. If you go to their websites (browse the links in my signature) you can see what each has to offer. The exception is Avast! which has an excellent support forum for both the paid and free versions.

I would recommend AVG 6.0 Free Edition or AntiVir Personal Edition.AVG's detection rate is lower than AntiVir's but thing is that AntiVir generates alot oh outbound traffic. Both requires little system resources.I noticed that avast! mistaken some programs as trojans while McAfee FreeScan and Trend Micro's Housecall reported nothing.
