Jakestar, it would really depend on your needs, if its only for home use, some free anti-virus softwares should be enough like AVG

Or you could go with the more popular ones like Mcafee, Trend Micro and Symantec. Personally, I use Mcafee enterprise, simple features. It focuses on prevention and detection/removal of viruses unlike the Norton Anti-virus 2004 edition which has added features like firewall (this is good if you dont currently have a firewall but if you already do, this would be sort of useless)

So, for my needs, a simple anti-virus program without the added features is enough (I already have a firewall, spywareguard, pop-up blocker, etc) its more convenient and practical that I get only the basic anti-virus features.

But your needs may not be the same as mine so its really up to you.

The best anti-virus software is the one that works for your needs and the one that you're comfortable using.
