Hey all,
I'm working on a story about spyware and anti-spyware and am looking for some stats. I've got some decent stats on unique spyware, but was hoping for some info on variants.

--Any thoughts on how many new variants on existing spyware appear each week/month/year? Any good numbers?

Thanks in advance.

No, but I guess there are alot more variants than originals.
Being original is difficult, but copy an existing original and make a few changes is easy for a malware writer.

I'm not really interested in statistics.

Why don't you talk about the REAL problems in the Malware World.
- too many softwares (in stead of ONE) and total confusion amongst the typical users
- even more rogue softwares than legit softwares to make the confusion even bigger
- no fullproof protection
- working with signature databases isn't the right method.

That's alot more interesting, than statistics.
Simplicity is always brilliant.
