I have read recently that current versions of thr Free version of Kerio are 'bloated' and have too many features like filter rules, etc.

What version of Kerio do u people recommend, I remember reading something like version 2.1.5 in another thread in this forum but not sure if that is the right version. Any ideas?

Version 2.15 is what I use and like very much.

I too use 2.1.5 - takes a little while to set up but it's beautifully small & light on resources.

I just installed 2.1.5, and I'm confused about what I should be setting up that takes "a while". I just installed it, and it works. When there's an outgoing connection, Kerio asks me if I should allow it. Is there anything else I should be doing to set it up?

I too use 2.1.5 - takes a little while to set up but it's beautifully small & light on resources.

You must replace the default configuration of the Kerio 2.1.5 rules with the following:

Kerio 2.15 and zone alarm was aimed at different audiences I believe.

Kerio 4+ is an attempt to be ZA, with horrible results.

I noticed that Kerio 4 has been 'updated' recently, to get rid of some bugs. Does anyone think it is worth moving from Kerio 2 yet?

I tried Kerio 4 when it first came out and found that it was more confusing to use than ver 2. You never knew what the built-in rules were doing. But I really liked the process guard. I moved to Ver 2 after I accidently buggered my hard-drive and had to re-install everything.

KPF was fixed to prevent a security-related problem... it's still bloated as hell...

The only bad thing about version 2 is that it has bugs which are never (and will never be) fixed...

Used KPF 4?

About 1 month ago... I was compelled to change my firewall after my sister said it was too confusing for her with all those pop-ups from the firewall...

KPF 4 has these pop-ups (the system protection tool or something...). KPF 2 only has network protection pop-ups.

Perhaps I wasn't clear... I switched from KPF 4 to 2.

You could also just turn the other stuff (System Integrity and the like) off. I got it to do firewall and not net nanny my browsing behaviour...

Umm... Is it just me or does dslreports not work anymore?

It may be a coinkidink but after installing AVG, ccleaner, and Kerio 2.0, I can't access that domain anymore..
