My brother doesn;t have his own computer, so he has to use mine for checking his e-mail.
Unfortunately, this is not the only thing he does. Whenever I check the history, THERE ARE A MILLION PORN SITES IN THERE!

After my past unpleasant experiences with spyware, (namely having to reformat my comp TWICE) I do not want to go through it again. I tell him no to use my comp, but he does it when I'm not home and I can't stop him!

How do I make him stop crapping up my computer?!

Can I maybe provide him with some sites that DON'T put spyware and viruses on the computer? I'd offer to buy him his own computer, but I don't have that much cash.

Try blocking them with IE-SPYADs:

Yes porn sites are always infected with all kinds of malware.

Provide your computer with a password.

1. Click Start/Settings/Control Panel/Users and Passwords
2. Mark the box "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer"
3. Click your user name
4. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del
5. Click Change Password
6. Fill in your new password
7. Click the OK button
8. ... it's easy after that.

After that your brother won't be able to get in your computer again, unless you login for him, so that he can read his emails between 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM under your supervision

One more thing : do NOT forget your password and don't let your brother look over your shoulder, while you are typing your password.

It might start a family war, but your computer will be safe.

If that isn't possible than you have to follow Swandog46's advice.
Whatever you decide, I would follow Swandog46's advice anyway, because it's a standard security rule to install IE-SPYAD and HOSTS.

And if you are feeling really strongly, try also setting a password in the BIOS
Then no one can even boot it up without either knowing the password, or opening the case to reset the BIOS.

IESPYAD contains 930+ porn domains, but knowing your brother already, he will most probably find the porn sites that are still not mentioned in IESPYAD, because he seems to be very "motivated" (that was the cleanest word I could find).

I'm not too sure about that. It appears that most of them are ones he finds through Google and Yahoo! searches.

Many firewalls have the option to block porn sites etc. so it may be a good idea to see what settings your one have. One thing though, if you set it to block you should also password protect the settings. Or, otherwise your highly motivated brother will probably deactivate it.

I'd offer to buy him his own computer, but I don't have that much cash.

I've a similar problem with my brother and my mom. My brother likes to surf porn sites, and mother likes to download free trash programs. I tried to deny and restrict their access to my pc, but all resulted in family chaos. Also I tried to give them information about spyware and worms, but they don't care. Although is my computer, I can't make them understand the danger related to their behavior. One thing is for sure, when a virus infects the computer, I'm the only idiot that have to fix it. Since the last infection, I'm trying to install the best free security programs, I can't do nothing else.

You can have him enjoy the crappy sites in a limited account...if you use Windows XP.

But it offers limited protection...it will prevent whole computer infestation (as in it will not slow down your side) but the crappy files will be in the computer.

Stay at SWI to post your HijackThis Logs caused by misbehaviour of your brother AND mother on the internet until you are qualified enough to do it yourself.
It will afford you some consolation, that at least one of the family members has brains.

Thanks for your reply. I'm interested in learning to fix using HijackThis but I'm going very slowly because I have language limitations and little time. Yesterday I had another malware infection because brother downloaded a trash casino game. Was lucky 'cause I could fix it in an easy way. It's a matter of time until the next malware hits my pc.

You could also try GoBack.
I believe the newer versions have an autoback feature that will allow the computer administrator to restore the computer to a previous state automatically after each logon/reboot. It is also much more powerful than M$’s system restore.
