XP Problems

When my XP Pro SP2 PC starts up, everything seems fine I get the XP Windows StartUp Music... then a LOOONG Pause...

Finally it starts and seems OK..

I've tried Adaware, SpyBot Search & Destroy etc.. nothing !!
Norton Av is installed and upto date...

Ummm... do you have a lot of programs that start up when windows starts?

Obviously he does from his HJT log, TinyTim.

You might go through all your startup apps and configure them to NOT wedge in their lil startup stub; most aren't needed anyway. The ones that don't have such in their configuration dialogues can be axed with MSCONFIG. Pare it down and Windows sings again.

(Its amazing how many HJT logs have the Real Media updater runnning, when Real Player really never needs updating, and has been involved in its own spyware scandal before. Would I trust it? No.).
