I keep getting a message when I start up that "windows cannot find userint32.exe"....can anyone tell me what this file is exactly? I began getting this message after running a virus scan and deleting files that were contaminated.

Thankyou so very much for any help you can give. :D

Hello there, Welcome to SWI :)

Hopefully, the error message is due to the fact that this file is no longer present on your system. However, it is still advisable that you download HijackThis from one of the below links and post a Logfile. Firstly though, please run an online scan [here] (using Internet Explorer).http://www.spywarein.../hijackthis.zip - Compressed File
http://www.unitethec.../HijackThis.exe - Uncompressed File
For efficiency, extract or move HijackThis into its own folder, but not into a temporary directory and preferably not a user specific location, such as "My Documents" or the Desktop.

Doubleclick HijackThis.exe and once open press Scan. When the scan is finished, press Save and save the log as a text file. Its best to save your text file in the same folder as where you put HiJackThis.

DO NOT FIX ANYTHING YOURSELF UNTIL INSTRUCTED TO DO SO ONLY BY SWI STAFF. MOST OF THE HJT LOG ENTRIES ARE REQUIRED TO RUN YOUR COMPUTER. REMOVING ESSENTIAL ENTRIES CAN POTENTIALLY CAUSE SERIOUS DAMAGE TO YOUR COMPUTER.

Once you have a logfile posted, a staff member will assist you from there as they become available.

See here for info on this file : http://www.google.co...m userint32.exe

Regards,
M_M
