Hello.

I am a writer, and writing articles for a local paper.
I am writing a article about Browser Highjackers and removal tools.

I want to write about CWShredder, and try to run it.
But it do not display "Cool Web Search Found" because my PC is not infected.
I want to get the Cool Web Search spyware, for my PC.
Where can I get CoolWebSeach Browser HighJacker software for my PC?
Please teach me URL.

Thanks in advance.

First of all you will need to download VMWare to act as a virtual machine. YOu DEFINETLY dont want to download it without a virtual machine...as that can really screw up your comp beyond repair.

Now then...try the list I posted in the other topic to the other guy who asked the same thing.

That's the first time I've ever seen someone ask to be infected with spyware.

Seriously, Good Luck, and give them hell in your article !!

Which CoolWebSearch? There are an inordinate number of them available. Your best bet is to just surf around on an unprotected machine and see what you pick up. As for specific file samples, those are closely guarded by our developers and experts for obvious reasons

I'm actually looking for really nasty spyware myself for a lab I am making for my students. I found nail.exe and the elitetoolbar, but Spysweeper cleans them right up. Any ideas on which are the nastiest?

Have you tried Vundo? I'm don't think automated spyware programs can clean it, since it has the random named DLL and the BHO and hidden files.

Well, if you are using a virtual machine, try downloading several viruses and worms, the msblast worm, and several CoolWebSearch variants, new versions of Qoologic/Narrator, Smitfraud, Vundo, Winfixer, along with Xupiter, RapidBlaster, and the HackerDefender and SubSeven rootkits. Also, download Bube.d/ Holax, which adds about 100 pieces of malware to your computer. That combination overall should be pretty darn hard to clean up.

spysweeper will remove Vundo

Anti_Spyware, several of the infections you named have faded into near extinction recently, plus I'm not sure how enumerating the infections will help him obtain them.

my sugestion: type in google or yahoo or watever you use and type IE search bars or something of that type (net search bars, Internet explorer search bars) and dload everything you find. Most of them have viruses+browser hijackers. some i think are bonzii buddy(i forgot if its a bho or not who cares its a virus lol) hotbar ect.

another way is just type in random webpages ect goooogle.com imbored.com virus.com ect.

or....

let a 8year old play on the internet and download everything he finds (lol that was a joke but probbly get you some spyware)

Hello!!! Webhelper4u has compiled a newly updated list of sites known to host CWS variants. This list has been very helpful for people who are investigating spywre behavior and to develop ways as to how to counter them.

Spysweeper is very bad with regards to overexuberant cleaning.

Spybot S&D will not delete anything off your computer without your express consent.

GOOD LUCK. I had a horrible infection on my computer two months ago after my brother turned off Symantec Corporate Security. I am still finding viruses on my computer.

ALSO: If you have WinXP, it would be a GOOD IDEA to BACK UP your computer to a system restore point BEFORE proceeding. Javacools Spywareblaster lets you create a restore point quickly and painlessly.

FINALLY: www.spybot.info has a comprehensive glossary of spyware terms.

Best of luck
