Edited original post (hijack this.log failed to attach; included as text)

I have a 3 pc home network. My primary pc (Win XP Pro SP2) is connected to a Netgear WPN824 router fed by a DSL modem with AOL as the ISP. The other 2 pc's are connected to the network thru wireless cards. I also run Sygate Personal Firewall and AVG Antivirus on each of these pcs. My internet connectivity is fine on my primary pc. I'm able to access all websites with good response. However, my laptop (Win XP Pro SP2, wireless Netgear card) cannot connect to certain websites (including www.windowsupdate.com, www.microsoft.com, and others). This is very perplexing since other sites (www.yahoo.com, this forum, etc.) load fine, and I have excellent connectivity between pc's and folders/files on my home network. I've done all the associated suggestions on Spywareinfo including spyware scans using Microsoft AntiSpyware, AdAware, Spybot, & SpywareBlaster. I have AVG Antivirus updated and running. I've defragged my harddrive and have plenty of free space. I've deleted Temporary Internet files & cookies. I've run CWShredder, CCleaner, WinsockXPFix, LSPFix. But I still have this "internet connectivity" issue on some sites or internet operations.

When I say I can't connect to certain websites (e.g., www.microsoft.com, Windows Update, www.qnext.com, etc.), I mean that Explorer just times out giving me the standard "The page cannot be displayed" message. I am able to access many other websites such as www.yahoo.com, Google, www.newegg.com, etc. But when I try to load www.microsoft.com, for example, the status bar indicates "Opening page http://www.microsoft.com/..." and shows the green progress bars slowly progressing. However, it never loads and just times out after 1-3 minutes. In the case of the Windows Update site, it indicates "Web site found. Waiting for reply..." and then again times out after 1-3 minutes. The same messages and results occur for the other sites I've mentioned. Its as if there's something unique about these websites that prevents them from loading. I've disabled my software firewall, reset Internet Explorer to default options, etc., but the same result occurs. I have also connected my laptop directly to my router with an ethernet cable to rule out any problems with the wireless card. The same issue results. I have the feeling that some part of Windows or Internet Explorer has become corrupted that's causing this. But because I'm getting no specific error message other than as described, its difficult to debug this situation. Any ideas?

Also, this problem seems to have just started over the last few weeks to a month on somewhat of a gradual means. I can't seem to pinpoint it to the installation of any new apps or configuration changes. I'm kind of at a standstill in fixing these issues. I've literally spent several weeks trying to debug, research, and fix this issue. I would really appreciate some help/guidance on this.
