Hi,

I am having problems with reboots at intermittent stages, most frequently on startup. I have checked with adaware and spybot but nothing surfaces and so I am at a loss to explain it. It is just annoying at the moment but I am noticing that it is occuring more frequently - could someone please scan my log and see if there is anything I should be looking at. Thanks so much!

It is possible that your computer is getting too warm. When CPU's get too warm, they automatically shut down the computer, for safety. And CPU's get really stressed on startup, and when they are stressed, they become warm (hot!!)

Check your temperatures and post them here.
You can check them with Speedfan or Everest or in your BIOS

Hi Nikolas, thanks for having a look at this.

I ran Speedfan and it showed the following:

Temp 1: 32c
Temp 2: -55c
Temp 3: 33c
HD0: 36c

Fan1: 2766RPM
Fan2: 0RPM
Fan3: 0RPM

Temp 1 moved in the range 32-34 on startup as far as I could tell, and temp 3 up to 40c

Your temperatures look very normal.
A the normal temperature for a CPU is between 30C and 60 C, so your temperatures are completely normal...

I think this is a software problem. Scan your computer again with "Hitman Pro" in in Safe Mode (F8 on startup).
This program bundles ten different anti-spyware program, so dat might do the job. The homepage of the program is in Dutch, but you can install it in English. Suits for Win2000 and XP.
