Print for your reference.

First, clean your temp folders and cookies.

Download ATF Cleaner by Atribune from here http://www.atribune....tent/view/25/1/ and save it to your Desktop.
Follow the instructions for the browser you use.

Read the instructions about the cookies. Delete what you do not need.
Double click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Check the boxes to the left of:

Windows Temp
Current User Temp
All Users Temp
Temporary Internet Files
*Prefetch (Windows XP) only.
Java Cache

The rest are optional - if you want to remove the lot, check "Select All". <- I suggest you select this one.
Finally click Empty Selected. When you get the "Done Cleaning" message, click OK.

If you use the Firefox or Opera browsers, you can use this program as a quick way to tidy those up as well.

When you have finished, click on the Exit button in the Main menu.

For Technical Support, double-click the e-mail address located at the bottom of each menu.

* The purpose of Prefetch folder is to increase the speed at which you can access the programs that you use on your PC. Unfortunately, Windows doesn't differentiate between a program you use every day and one you use every blue moon, which means that it may be prefetching a lot of stuff that you rarely use, adding to your startup time.
You may find that the first time you boot up after cleaning out this folder, your PC takes longer to get into gear - the second, and subsequent, boots should be quicker.

Updating Java
  • Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 10.
  • Scroll down to where it says "The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
  • The page will refresh.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on jre-1_5_0_10-windowsi586-p.exe to install the newest version.
Clean the Java Cache. Tutorial.
http://www.java.com/.../5000020300.xml

Please remember to uninstall all old versions of Sun Java with the Add/Remove Programs applet.

Let me know if you have removed this Windows Media Connect service.

Go into services.msc via start->run (type: services.msc) and find the service in bold listed below, double click it and select Disabled from the drop down menu

Find this service: Windows Media Connect (WMC) (WmcCds)

Open up HijackThis click the Open the Misc. Tools Section button.
Then Delete an NT service

Windows Media Connect (WMC) (WmcCds) - Unknown owner - c:\program files\windows media connect\mswmccds.exe

Now repeat these instructions for Windows Media Connect (WMC) Helper (WmcCdsLs)

and Windows Media Connect (WMC) Helper (WmcCdsLs) - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\Windows Media Connect\mswmcls.exe

Close everything.

Now run Hijackthis and remove these lines.

O23 - Service: Windows Media Connect (WMC) (WmcCds) - Unknown owner - c:\program files\windows media connect\mswmccds.exe
O23 - Service: Windows Media Connect (WMC) Helper (WmcCdsLs) - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\Windows Media Connect\mswmcls.exe (file missing)

hey sorri its taken so long for me to reply but ma computer has gone completly bust
its gettin worse now when i go on the internet it takes ages for the pages to load and you have to refresh them every so often, when i go on myspace it closes the page, and i couldnt get rid on those last two lines on the hijackthis scan. I followed ur instruction and when I got to the delete an NT service it came up with the error

"Service 'Windows Media Connect (WMC) (WmcCds) - Unknown owner - c:\program files\windows media connect\mswmccds.exe' was not found in the registry. Make sure you entered the short name of the service., vbEclamation"

The removal of these empty items in the registry will certainly not speed your computer.

Let look at your Device manager and find out if you have some conflict.

Start > Control Panel >
double click System
Click the Device manager button.

Open all of the Plus signs and check to see if you have any Yellow Exclamation mark.
This would indicate problems with that service.

The empty 023 items are gone, that's good.

then i looked at the device manager and found these things with an exclamation mark:
Network Adapters
!Belkin 54g wireless USB Network adapter #5

Other Devices
!Video Controller
!Video Controller (VGA compatible)

These have to be corrected.

Start with your belkin 54g adapter. Read the documentation. I would remove it and reinstall.

As for the Video controller, do you have others running.
The two listed above man not be required. Not sure about that.

Check with the manufacturer of you video card if you have the lates driver.
