Wish to know about some trojans

I wish to know if spyware or viruses are able to read information from my desktop, I recently had two trojans, one was called




I obviously had personal information on my desktop.

depending on the sophistication of the virii in question you could have been fine depending on how early you got rid of it.

Downloader.small downloads malicious files to your %SYSTEM% folder.

Downloader.z downloads a Trojan to your computer, which could have allowed someone to back door thier way into your system and look at anything they wanted.

I remember seeing the trojans in my AVG ANTI VIRUS VAULT, would this have helped to prevent them?

However, in the end the computer did not want to start up and I had to use the system disk.

AVG ANTI VIRUS VAULT can prevent, as i also met this problem

If they're in the Vault, that means AVG picked them up in a scan and deleted them. A full system scan is recommended after one is found just to make sure your system is clean.

Scan with your antivirus program once a week and keep a real-time shield active at all times. That'll catch most things. A decent antispyware program will catch the rest (Ad-Aware, Spybot, SpySweeper, et cetera).
