Every time I double click on a music file my computer says '...is not a valid win32 application'

The same happens if I try right click > Open with > Winamp

I still can play the music files via my winamp library...

I can play them on VLC though

Your log is clean.

Every time I double click on a music file my computer says '...is not a valid win32 application'

The same happens if I try right click > Open with > Winamp

Dis you try to reinstall winamp.

It may have been damaged by this worm.

I have totally uninstalled and reinstalled a couple of times now. No luck :(

I lookedon that link you gave me and I am still able to visit the websites it says it restricts and a couple of those processes it names which are killed, are still running. Looks like I'm not infected with that which is a bonus :)

Thanks

Do this.

Go to: http://www.funkytoad...ontent/view/13/
Download the program HostsXpert to restore the default hosts file back onto your machine.
Unzip the program and execute it.
Select
"Restore MS Hosts File".
Close the application.

I have reset my hosts, about to redownload MVPS hosts now.

I finally managed to update Java (after lots of disconnecting from the net and freezing <_<) and now I have version 6 :)

Still getting the error message though :(

http://img.photobuck.../win32error.jpg

To add: I cannot play with VLC anymore it says 'has encountered an unexpected error and needs to close...' Video's still work though, it's just music file

I suspect that your Music file (s) might have been corrupted by a virus.

Can you Dowload the "As time goes by. again and see if you can get it to play.

Or download an mp3 file and play it.

I have just newly ripped an album and the same occurs. However if I have an all music folder and lick play all (in the windows taskpane) It'll play fine with winamp.

Would it be possible for all of them to be damaged? The one's on my external HD do not play and neither do the one's on the computer.

Found out today, if I right click and open with firefox then they play ok

I will post about VLC but that's not what I'm worried annoyed about. It's the error message I keep getting when I try to double click on them to play them.

Thank you :)

You were able to play the file. So it's good.
The problem is with the application you use.

Good luck.

VLC is ok now. However if I set that as my default player (normally winamp) then the error message still appears

At least you have a way to get to your files.

There could be some conflict on what program is set to read the file.
